4.09 Miles. And then I stopped. My legs were wobbly! My heartbeat was 148! And I didn’t want to fall over!
I WANT to be athletic, strong, and really good at biking. But let’s just say… I’m not there yet. Here are my challenges:
- My 277 pound frame struggles to fit onto my women’s bike frame–the size that will be perfect for me when I am no longer the size of two people. I feel like a scrunched up sock, stuffed into a child’s tennis shoe.
- My mind is ready to roll, but my hands are forced to hang onto the handlebars for dear life, making my fingers numb, as I try to stay safely upright. My balance is out of whack, for sure.
- It is challenging to be so distracted by my rear end. I mean, biking hurts my butt!
And so in spite of all this, I’ve vowed to bike one time each week this month of August 2020. And I’ve vowed to improve time and/or distance each time. Today was my first effort. So cheers to me for showing up, trying, and giving it my best shot, even at my size. I never want to stop learning and improving and braving new experiences!
