My Apple Watch

I had no idea that something as simple as a watch would revolutionize my motivation, my joy, and my persistence to become a healthier person. But indeed it has.

Now in the time of COVID-19, it’s not exactly the right time to spend a lot of money on “stuff.” But after years of desiring this watch, I took the plunge and promised myself I would use it to help myself get healthier. I’d use it to track my exercise in a pool or on land. Little did I know of how little I really knew. Namely, that this watch provides multiple data points to focus on instead of the scale. And how its presence provides a colorful goal each day for movement in general. And…how much I’d love the experience of challenging myself to do well every single day.

As of today, I’ve conquered my move goals 34 days in a row. I’m not sure I’ve ever done that in my life before now! And amazingly, I’m okay. I’m alive! In fact, I’m thriving. I’m sore, but I’m happy. I’m a beginner, but I feel accomplished.
